Day 11

I think I’m getting the hang of this blogging thing ?

Feels like the quality is improving bit by bit.

As I told you yesterday I did a workshop on habits called Habitualized Success. Setting yourself up for success through habits.

Today I will give you the workshop through this blog. I will actually split it up in multiple posts because it’s a lot of information. And! I want you to think about the exercises a bit longer. Let it marinate in your brain 🙂

Workshop part 1 of 2

First things first!

What’s a habit?

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary:

a usual way of behaving : something that a person does often in a regular and repeated way.

We all have good and bad habits. This “workshop” is only for creating new habits NOT stopping bad habits!

We all have habits we know we should have but we never actually. This method that I’ll show you will help you to actually implement it.

Exercise 1:

List one, two or three habits that you want to have.
What habit(s) would make your more successful?

Some examples:

  • Wake up at 6 am
  • Workout twice a week
  • Eat healthy
  • Meditate everyday
  • Drink 2 liter of water
  • Read a book every month
  • Write every day until I finish my book

Do it now.. I’ll wait 😉

Alright now that you have your habit(s) we’re gonna dive into why you want this.

Exercise 2:

Keep asking why you want it and repeat the same question for every answer.

For example:

I want to work out. Why?
I want my body to look better. Why?
I want to be able to walk on the beach and be proud of my body. Why?
I want to be attractive to the opposite sex. Why?
I want to find my life partner.

We’ll stop here for now. We can still ask why 10 times but I think we have gotten to the point where there’s a real motivational statement.

I want to find my life partner.

This is excellent. We’ll use this as motivation to keep going. But since motivation is not gonna cut it we will need more.

Motivation is good but you’re not always as motivated. When you watch a real inspiring movie or book you’ll feel really motivated to do something but as you well know. This feeling fades over time. Having a big enough why is one part which we just covered.

The other thing is that your brain will actually sabotage you on changing your habits. For example: If you say “I’m gonna work out for an hour.” Your brain will come up with tons of reasons why you shouldn’t do it.

Tomorrow I will teach you how to hack your brain and bypass this mechanism.

For now share the habits you want to form in the comments.
