You know what time it is.
Book review time part 1 of 2.
Today I will review this book:
Bob Proctor – You Were Born Rich
The subtitle is:
The keys to maximizing the awesome potential you were born with
That’s what we want right?
So this book is by Bob Proctor one of the main figures in the movie, book, ebook, audio book of The Secret. So yeah this is going to be a bit different than any other financial book.
⚠️ Fair warning: This book is not for everyone.
You have to at least be open to the possibility that there are some Universal laws out there that we can use in our favor like the law of gravity, law of attraction, law of opposites, the law of vacuum and others.
Bob has a really nice way of writing. He writes exactly the same as he talks so it’s easy to read and digest.
The overall message is that the only thing that’s holding you back in life is you. Use the techniques in the book to your benefit and you will create the life you want to.
One thing that’s the same in this book and every other financial book I’ve read so far. You have to change the way you think about money. One of his more prominent statements is “Love people and use money” never the other way around!
I’ll go over all chapters one by one.
Chapter 1 – Me And Money
What’s your relationship to money and how should you view it according to Bob. There are some really valuable perspectives in here.
To list a few:
- Money is a servant
- Money is important
- Money must circulate
- Pay yourself first
You will learn that the way you think about money is the way it has shown up in your life so far. So if we change this we can change your financial situation.
Chapter 2 – How Much Is Enough?
How much money is enough for you on an annual basis. Some exercises on how to get to the amount that is enough and not just enough to live the live you live right now but the abundant life you really want to live.
Write down all the expenses you have right now on a monthly basis.
Add things to this list that you want to do or buy each month.
Multiply it by 12.
Add all the vacations you want to go on and the weekend trips.
Anything we haven’t covered yet.
The number that you have right now is the amount that is enough for you.
We just made it Specific and Measurable!
Chapter 3 – The Image-Maker
This is the same message as hundreds of other books. To quote one of my favorites Napoleon Hill.
“Whatever the mind of men can conceive, and bring itself to believe, it can achieve.”
This is all about visualizing yourself as if you already have the amount of money that you wanted in the previous chapter. If you see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.
Visualize at least daily and do it as vivid as possible. See yourself living the lifestyle you desire.
Chapter 4 – Let Go And Let God
For a lot of people this chapter will probably raise their eyebrows.
It’s about trusting that whatever should happen to achieve your goal will happen. With a lot of example stories.
Have faith that it will happen. Let it go and let God or the Universe take care of it for you.
Chapter 5 – Expect an Abundance
This is a follow-up of the previous chapter. Whatever you are letting the Universe (I personally prefer this term to God except for when I’m cursing ?) do expect it to happen. Constantly have the anticipation of it being realized already.
Another way to explain it is that feeling you have the night before Christmas or Sinterklaas (here in The Netherlands). You know that you will get presents the next day. You feel it. The anticipation and healthy tension. And you know that you know that you know that it’s gonna happen.
Tomorrow I’ll share chapters 6 – 10 and my conclusion.
Next up: It’s all about the money, money, money! ?
