Day 16

Today is gonna be a bit different again 😀

Yep I like switching things up.

One of my greatest skills besides sleeping is letting things go. So today I’ll share a little about the art of letting go.

Tim Ferriss calls this the monkey mind. Lets dose the monkey so we can do other stuff instead of monkey sitting.

I’ve got one word for you ladies and gentlemen:

MEDITATION

That’s it! End of blogpost 😛

Okay okay I’ll elaborate a bit more.

This is where it started for me. I started somewhere around 2007/ 2008 with my personal development journey. One thing kept coming back and back and back and back. All the big influencers were talking about this weird thing called meditation.

At that point it was still weird for me. Didn’t really know what to think of it. But hey I was open to it and if all my heroes were doing it I would give it the benefit of the doubt and just do it for a month.

Googled a bit and this was the book that I resonated most with:

8 Minute Meditation Expanded: Quiet Your Mind. Change Your Life.

So I bought it.

This book didn’t stand a chance. I’m like a sponge when it comes to these kinds of books so I sucked everything in in no-time.

Started doing all the meditation types that were in there and just did 8 minute meditations for a month to start with.

At that point in time I didn’t have a lot going in my life. What’s a social life? I worked fulltime with a lot of overtime, I played football 4 times a week and I worked out 3 times a week.

I had a lot on my mind nonetheless.

After doing the meditation stuff for just a month I really felt some kind of shift in my mind. I’ll try to explain what it felt like. So we have a monkey that’s jumping from branch to branch and we just stop giving the monkey sugar and we turn on netflix for it. Now there’s a good monkey 😀

Your head is so much clearer and it’s easy to compartmentalize. I can’t do anything with this thought right now so I’ll put it in this box and I’ll open it later.

Today I still meditate but now I use an app for it. This is my favorite app at the moment (free to download).

Guided meditation & relaxation by Fitness22 Ltd

I would say just test it out for a week for free. If you like it buy the in-app purchase to unlock tons of new meditations. So far it’s definitely worth the € 3,99.

I’ll will definitely revisit this topic because there’s a lot more benefits to it and there are so much more types of meditations.

Dough time!
