I think I might have driven my neighbors to insanity the last few days. Man I was making crappy noises non-stop.
Glad I’m finally starting to look like a sane person again. Not that that’s my goal!
This week should be full of new opportunities for my apartment hunt!
This is me ranting about how this works in The Netherlands.
A few years ago it was fairly easy to just go to a rent company and just tell them that you want a house in the private sector. It’s expensive every month so they would welcome you with open arms.
Right now it changed a lot. Every renting realtor agency or whatchamacallit. Has their own sign up form and with each of them you have to pay € 40 to € 50 to enroll for x months.
To give you an understanding of how this would work in my city. There are literally thousands of renting places available and most of the agencies are really small so they only have between 10 and 20 apartments. Which I totally understand because properties are damn pricey in The Hague.
So if you want to really go all-in on your house search you have to probably sign up for 10 agencies which means at least € 400 that you will have set aside to do this. Which will be a good investment since it will return eventually because I will rent cheaper but still. Whenever I rent from them they make money off of me every month so why the sign up fee?
Yeah I understand the website creation was expensive but thats because you guys wanted to get paid for the signups. I just don’t understand it… It probably good money for them and real easy money. Some sort of passive income.
Maybe I should do something like this as well.
