It’s delivery day!
Today I travel for approximately 4 hours again and work for 6 to 8 hours. Just until the project is finished and then I have a social/ business meeting in Amsterdam with an old acquintance.
Its one of the founders of a dating company. I actually made an app once for their new venture for a percentage of the profit but it never really took off.
Worked about 100 hours on that project and I think it was well invested because a lot of new things came out of it.
For example we had a launch party and I took a friend there and he met a girl that became his girlfriend for the next year and a half or so.
Personally I learned some new things and had a blast creating it together with the co-owner of their business. Who was already a friend of mine.
Today is a good day because I will finally deliver this project that has gone over budget and just be done with it.
Funny how this seems to be a pattern with multiple projects over the years.
Excited to get started and even more excited to get rid of it at some point.
Its been the same with all the projects that lacked in communication or was just bad communication.
This was probably one of my weakest points and I’m not saying it one of my stronger points now or anything. But I think im way better at it and managing expectations. The difficult part still is that when its one way communication I can’t read the clients mind three days later when they have changed all kind of things with other people that work on the project.
It really has to be a two way street and even then its hard enough. I’m doing my best at expressing myself and making sure we are at the same page and people knpw what i’m doing what the status is but this is just not enough to get the total picture. Obviously kts better than no communication. What actually happens with a lot of freelancers as well. Heck I was one of them.
A long rant from me… I’ll let you know when I have the answer ?
No spend day! Havent had that many this month yet and that won’t really change because I’m moving the next couple of days. Should be able to pick it up again next month.
